From the distressed wood to the robin’s egg blue accent pieces, Marisa’s cottage-style home is the epitome of charming. The way she maximizes available space without looking cluttered is exemplary for small spaces and, quite frankly, genius.

Tiny’s was lucky enough to snag the recipe on how she decorates her shabby chic home on Cape Cod!

shabby chic bedroom

Marisa describes the theme of her home as shabby, rustic, and cozy. She names Rachel Ashwell (@rachelashwell) and Natalie (@VintagePorch) as her biggest design inspirations.

Her style reminds us of a Nicholas Sparks movie brought to life! We can almost smell the salty sea breeze from over here. And where’s our hunky love interest at?

Small window nook

Marisa is no newbie when it comes to small space living and has learned how to finesse. She says she always makes it work, no matter how tiny the space is!

Small colourful bathroom

Her bathroom’s color scheme is reminiscent of the sea glass she collects. The sandy wood adds a nautical touch and complements the rich sapphire blue of the decor.

Country style dining table

Her space, despite how many items she has, doesn’t feel congested. The advice she would give to anyone who is trying to conquer a cramped environment is, “Less. Less. Less. You can ALWAYS make a small space beautiful by placing your items correctly.”

With a place this cute, we had to ask: where does she like to shop for apartment-friendly furniture and decor?

Marisa prefers to shop at thrift stores and consignment shops on Cape Cod. According to her, there are tons of shopping opportunities for a bargain hunter.

When we first discovered her home, we were particularly enamored by her Alice in Wonderland-like cabinet. The vintage scale and stacked china adds even more character to the space!

Marisa says she loves living in a small space because it forces her to “make the best out of any situation.” She has learned how to make anything her own.
